Gallery
We want people to realise and be proud of the talent of the art community in South Devon, which is why we opened our gallery for local artists.
We only display work by artists local to us, both originals and prints, by both amateurs and professionals (e.g. Neil Cox, Robert Crisp, Graham Jowett-Ive).
Neil Cox
Biography
Born in 1955 near London Neil was always interested in conservation and the environment and drew and painted Wildlife from an early age. Whilst reading Law at Southampton University he developed his skills during frequent trips to the New Forest.
Having successfully graduated, early interest from galleries and private collectors prompted a decision to return to his first love and pursue a career as a wildlife artist.
Galleries soon showed interest in his work and he has since been very successful with exhibitions throughout Europe and the U.K. In Europe he has shown at the Celebrated Gallery Florrimont in Lausanne, Switzerland and for several years with Moll Brinks Konst in Uppsale, Sweden. His work has a growing following in the USA. The Bennett Galleries, Tennessee and Holland + Holland, California, amongst others, have exhibited his works. Both Sotheby's and currently Christie's have successfully auctioned his work, achieving prices indicative of his popularity and Phillips have auctioned his work in aid of the Rhino rescue Trust, raising funds for endangered wildlife. His work has sold at the SWLA's annual show at the Mall in London and he has been a finalist in the European Bird Artist of the year Competition.
Neil travels extensively, constantly seeking ew ideas. His move from the Cotswolds to Sidmouth, has enabled him to gain fresh inspiration from the landscape and great diversity of wildlife in this stunning part of the country.

Graham Jowett
Biography
Graham served with the Queens Lancashire Regiment for ten years and worked for a further twenty years in the financial services industry. Eleven years ago he was involved in a motor accident which left him severely disabled. The medics prognosis suggested that he was unlikely to walk again but he proved them wrong and, though badly, he now walks unaided. He spent months in a spinal unit where he started painting mainly as a therapy to get the hands and fingers working and he hasn’t stopped since.
Graham specializes in the Sea and Ships, Old and Modern, but also paints landscapes and castles. He likes to be historically accurate. Last year he was a finalist in the Daily Mail’s “Not the Turner Prize”. His work has exhibited in the Royal Society of Marine Artists annual exhibition, and one of his paintings is to be published in the Marine Calendar as a result.
