Alex Vick

Alex's initial enthusiasm for painting began when studying A levels at Sidmouth College. In the course of his studies he came across work by American artist Debra Hurd, and was intrigued by her use of the palette knife; the texture created and an expressionist vitality inspired him.

During his Art Foundation Diploma course at Exeter College he became fascinated by architecture, always trying to combine his artistic abilities with his design work.

Painting is a side project, but something he enjoys doing. The natural beauty of the cliffs and landscape of Sidmouth has always inspired him to paint, but it has only been within the last year or so that he has really developed his own individual style. These latest eye-catching contemporary mixed-media pieces have been received very well by both galleries and art collectors.

He is now a second year student at University of Wales Institute Cardiff (UWIC), studying a degree in interior architecture which allows him to incorporate his paintings with his architectural design work.
