The drying time and opacity of Oil Colours lend this medium great versatility, and allow the artists to develop the painting at all stages, by re-working, moving colours about and recovering areas without any sign of the changes being made in the finished piece.

The glossy finish and ease with which Oils can be mixed and blended make this medium one of the easiest to work with, contrary to popular belief – if you’ve not tried them, give them a go!

Available in both Artist’s Quality and student ranges (Georgian & Winton) of standard oil colours. There have also been new ranges developed which give different effects, such as Griffin Alkyd Fast Drying Oils (take the drying time down to 1-2 days) and Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colours which remove the necessary to use solvents (useful for those working in a confined area, and for allergy sufferers).
